“Ethnic Waves Improv: Art Quilting Improv Techniques”

with Priscilla Bianchi

This is a fun, fresh project that students will enjoy. It is about creating soft waves or curves over a whole cloth background. With it, students will learn how to incorporate Guatemalan and other ethnic textiles into their art quilt for a richer, more varied, and visually appealing piece.

Students, according to their skill level and confidence, may choose to work in an improvisational create-as-you-go way (without a plan), or in a more controlled way (with a plan, and self-made pattern). They can also choose to either piece or appliqué their “waves” to the background. All these options will be explained for students to choose from.

Skill Level: Confident Beginner to Advanced
